Workshop: Practices towards Algorithmic Management and their impact on workers
You are invited to a two-day technical workshop on “Practices towards algorithmic management and their impact on workers” runs on June 15th from 1 - 4pm and on June 16th from 3 - 6pm. All times are CEST.
The workshop takes place under the auspices of the “Building partnerships on the future of work” project. It is a collaboration between the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (EC-JRC), European Commission Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion and the ILO – and with the participation of EU-OSHA and EUROFOUND.
This technical workshop aims to discuss and gather evidence on how algorithmic management and other practices that are often associated with platform work are being increasingly adopted by traditional companies. The new digital outsourcing model and the introduction of new tools and modalities for work planning, monitoring and surveillance impacts on business models, work organization and working conditions, generating new challenges for policy-makers, notably in the areas of employment and industrial relations.
Professor Kirstie Ball will deliver the keynote on day two of the workshop and has produced a scientific report on employee moniotirng and surveillance for the project.
