The Sixth CRISP Doctoral Training School: Last few places available, application deadline extended to 4th April 2025!

About the CRISP Doctoral School
The School takes place at the University of Stirling from the 16th – 20th June 2025. It features five days of intensive training in multi-disciplinary research methods and skills in the field of Surveillance Studies. It will also feature a range of knowledge-exchange and research-training activities, as well as providing social and networking opportunities.
The school will be delivered via a range of interactive lectures and workshops and will be facilitated by leading surveillance scholars. Students will have the opportunity to apply this training to their own doctoral research and to learn transferable research skills. Scheduled session topics include:
- state-of-the-art lectures by leading surveillance scholars;
- research skills workshops;
- working within and between disciplines;
- publishing in top ranked journals;
- techniques for securing research funding;
- working with the media, activitists and other non-academic partners
You will need to complete our online Application Form, and enter your name, contact details, institutional affiliation along with a 250 word supporting statement. The statement should explain your research topic and interest in the school. The deadline for applications is extended to Friday April 4th 2025. We will inform you whether your application has been successful by Friday 11th April.
The fee for participation is £400. This covers all tuition fees, field trip, refreshments, lunches and some evening meals. Accommodation will be available on the University of Stirling campus but participants must fund this themselves. Prospective participants are advised to investigate their funding options before applying.
A small number of CRISP Bursaries, equivalent to the Doctoral Training School Fee, are available to participants facing significant financial restraint. If you would like to be considered for a CRISP Bursary please complete the relevant section of the application form.
Accommodation Update: We have secured accommodation on Campus at the University of Stirling in one of the newly refurbished Halls of Residence. They are private rooms, with en-suite facilities and communal living areas. Rooms are available at a preferential rate of £68 per night, bed and breakfast. Further information about booking will be available in April.
University of Stirling Doctoral Students: There are a limited number of places for University of Stirling doctoral candidates at a reduced fee of £100. If this applies to your application then please indicate this in the application form under the section relating to a bursary request.
