The Fifth CRISP Doctoral Training School
There are just a few places left on the 2023 CRISP Doctoral Training School, so we've extended the deadline until April 14th!
The School takes place at the University of Essex from Monday 19– Friday 23 June 2023. It will feature five days of intensive training in multi-disciplinary research methods and skills in the field of Surveillance Studies. A range of knowledge-exchange and research-training activities will be offered, as well as lots of social and networking opportunities.
The school will be delivered via interactive lectures and workshops and will be facilitated by leading surveillance scholars. Students will have the opportunity to apply this training to their own doctoral research and to learn transferable research skills. Scheduled session topics include:
- state-of-the-art lectures by leading surveillance scholars
- research skills workshops
- working within and between disciplines
- publishing in top ranked journals
- techniques for securing research funding
- working with the media
The fee for participation is £400. This covers all tuition fees, field trip, refreshments, lunches and some evening meals. The School starts at lunchtime on Monday 19th June and ends at 4pm on Friday 22nd June, followed by a social event in the evening. Accommodation will be provided at The George Hotel in Colchester at a preferential rate of £99 per night for a double room and breakfast. Details of how to book accommodation will be forwarded when places are confirmed, but this must be funded by applicants themselves. Prospective participants are advised to investigate their funding options before applying.
A small number of CRISP Bursaries, equivalent to the Doctoral Training School Fee, are available to participants facing significant financial restraint. If you would like to be considered for a CRISP Bursary please complete the relevant section of the application form.
We look forward to receiving your applications and to seeing you in Essex in June!
